Database backup (RMAN, ontape, onbar) configuration & restoration
Details:
1. Backup the database backup files (RMAN, Archive log & onbar) from the =
file system to tapes, and validates that backup has been completed successf=
ul using onbar & rman command.
a. This is part of the UNIX system backups
b. The database backup scripts have to be monitored, if it is failed esca=
late to the DBAs.
2. Restore the DB files from the tape to file system & mounting tape
a. This is part of the UNIX file system restoration
3. Database backup file material handling labeling management. This backu=
p tape should be separated from the file system backups.
4. Installation of database binaries, database patches binaries etc.
a. The root access privilege is needed to install the binaries
5. Schedule & monitor the database backups which include monitoring the d=
atabase backups status, sending an e-mail to the DBA if the backup fails=
..
a. Monitoring the log files and if it is failed escalate to Database owne=
r (Can be automated by writing the scripts)
